Quick and easy tips you can use to keep towels fluffy and soft

Who doesn’t love fluffy and soft towels? However, there are things that can make towels feel coarse to the touch and that’s when you need to take action and bring them back to their original fluffiness. Most of the times we leave towels for way too long into the washing machine, we fail to hang them properly to dry, and we may also fail to fold them right after we take them out of the dryer. This in turn will make them crunchy and wrinkly. Luckily, there are many ways you can consider to avoid dealing with crunchy and wrinkled towels, as we’re going to see below.

Getting rid of bad odor from your towels

If you really want to make sure that your towels are fluffy and also smell good, then you need to consider the following:

  • If your towels are stinky, then the first think you should do is use about half a cup of baking soda when doing the laundry and then wash the towels once again by using a detergent you like.
  • Filling your dryer or washing machine is not a good idea and that’s because this way you won’t have an adequate amount of water and air flowing in the washer. This in turn, can negatively impact the cleanliness and fluffiness of your towels.
  • Leaving your towels in the washing machine for more than a few hours, since the closed space and the wet towels and laundry can facilitate the building and growth of bacteria.
  • Changing your towels daily is highly recommended.
  • Bath towels should be used no more than 2 times prior to washing. Also, you need to make sure that they can dry completely between uses and prior to tossing them in a laundry basket or in a hamper.

Start using white towels

To really make laundry day a lot simpler, you may want to switch to using white towels. You may ask yourself why you should do that. Well, it’s because you can easily wash them at the same time on hot and then sanitize them without having to worry about fading. Furthermore, by using white towels you can also give your bathroom a cleaner look.

Don’t use liquid fabric softener anymore

Many people use liquid fabric softener for their towels and while this may initially sound like a good idea, it’s not. In fact, the softener will coat your towels’ fibers and prevent them from being fully cleaned. If you really want to use a softener, then you should make your own by using white vinegar (a quarter cup per load) since it’s great way to soften your towels and freshen then up as well.

Buy a new set of towels

If you’ve been using your towels for far too long and they show signs of wear, then you may want to think about buying new ones. The old ones you currently use can be repurposed for cleaning counters or if you want, you can donate them to the homeless.
